Man For Today Visits: Concours On Savile Row

How the best-dressed street in the world was firing on all cylinders this week.

For the second year in a row, the Concours on Savile Row hit the streets with arguably the most monumental lineup of cars in the centre of London to be seen in 2023.

With this catwalk of beautiful cars reaching a combined value of £250m, it only made sense for me to pop down to see what’s what.

The purpose of the Concours on Savile Row is to highlight the craftsmanship and expert devotion shown in the two classical worlds: classic cars and classic menswear. Celebrating a love for all things bespoke, sustainable, and beautiful, we could not imagine a more fitting event to attend, and after this weekend, a more successful one.

Naturally, those whose passion for cars and motoring is well known also made an appearance, namely David Gandy, who sported an excellent dark seersucker suit, which is worth pointing out since it is a great alternative to linen in warm weather.

A particular highlight from the bespoke menswear corner was the 1961 Aston Martin DB4GT hosted at Cad & The Dandy - from inside the shop with only an inch to spare on either side upon entering the doorway!

The almost cracking of the uncovered flags notwithstanding, the weather truly blessed us and so here is what I wore for the day.

My mid-brown pure linen jacket with some new Gurkha style trousers - both made up from Suitsupply. Underneath that, a black linen shirt from Reiss. I can’t be the only one who thinks black is just so chicly Italian in the summer? I hope not.

Serendipitously, I had the good fortune to spend the afternoon on the Concours with one Nikki Ximeri, owner of La Vie Rebelle. Beautiful photographs and conversations are not optional in such company, and you may thank this partnership in crime for all the wonderful content you see on this page right now.

The best view in the house however came from none other than No. 13 Savile Row, which is Cad & The Dandy’s bespoke salon, from which one can observe some of the best and most exciting of sights to fuel your ambitions and classic tastes.

The second year of the Concours on Savile Row was a resounding success. Last year, there was a conflict with Pitti Uomo, thanks to some oversight, and so it was no wonder this year saw a larger turnout but with a similar vibe.

If you’re in London next May, then nowhere else will feel more appropriate and stylish to go.
